Resume Outline Template – 19+ For Word and PDF Format

Picture this scenario, you find the perfect job. It is something that you are passionate over, something you have wanted to do for most of your life. You are super excited, so you decide you want to apply for the job. Part of the job application, though, is writing a resume. You never thought much into writing one. So you start. It does not take long before you realize that this is actually a lot harder than you thought it would be. Between putting your work history on the application, to putting your awards and everything else in between, you just get lost and confused. That’s when it hits you, it probably would have been a good idea to have a resume outline template.

A resume outline template could have saved you a lot of time and energy in that situation. That is why I have come up with several different ones which are included in this article. Resume outlines help drastically in have a clean, organized paper with your skills and job history on them.

A good resume template should consist of a section in the top left or center where you should have your information, like your name and contact information. The next section should be labeled something like general information, where you give information like your age and address. Under that section there should be one labeled work history or job experience, and you will need to go through you job history for at least the last five years.

Be sure to have a place to put duties, contact information, supervisor, dates you worked there, and pay rate. Under this you should have a section for educational background. Here is where you will need to make a space for where you got your diploma or GED, and your college degree if you have one. Have a space to put the dates you got your degree as well. Under this one, you should make a place for any awards and certificates that you may have and when you got them. Finally, you should have a section under that labeled something like “personality traits”. This will be where you talk about how your personality will help you do a good job in the workforce.

Tips for Formatting your Resume Outline

  • Be organized – Resumes are a big part of getting just about any job. It is vital that they be organized. As you probably already know, that is not an easy task. Unfortunately, though without a good resume, one may not get the job they seek, even if they are qualified to do so. Employers want an organized resume because that shows signs of hard work and dedication. I had my wife’s mom look at my resume before, as she is an employer, and she had to correct a lot due to my lack of organization. If she had not done so, I may not have the job I have right now!
  • Be concise and complete – It is so important to make sure your resume is complete, with all your qualifications on it. That is why having a resume outline form is so important, and that is what is included with this article. These forms are great outlines that can help anyone in writing their resume! A good example here would be a resume outline for high school students. In today’s society, it is important for even the high school student to have a nice resume for several reasons. One is the fact that their competition for the job will have a resume, and two because it is best for them to start out on a resume now, and just add to it as they get more qualifications going.
  • Start your resume now! – The sooner you start your resume, the less time it will take to write it all at once! If you wait until you have been through several jobs, got through your education, and have learned a lot of new skills, you will be working on your resume for hours. So, start it now and as new things come up, add them into it! It saves you a lot of time and a massive headache!

Enclosed are several blank outline formats and examples that are sure to help you out in making a good resume that is organized and complete! Good luck and happy job hunting!
