Must have’s in an internship letter
Your info and address of recipient –
Like any other letter, include your address and the relevant information. Also, do not forget the address of the receiver.
Do not go directly to the point. It is important that you show interest in the receiver of your letter. Do this by addressing it directly to him/her and not just dear sir or madam. That will attract their interest in you. Reason being you also took your time to research and know about them hence they will realize you have more concern for the internship.
Other parts –
Once you finish with the salutation, include at least three paragraphs. The first one should introduce you and all the logical reasons behind the letter. The second one is all about your qualifications, and why you think you deserve an appointment in the company. Finally close it with professional remarks such as yours faithfully. Then sit back and wait for them to get back to you with confidence. Check out some templates below to support you further.
Tips to have in mind while writing the letter
Do not write a long one –
When you write a long letter, the recipient might perceive it irrelevant. Be short and straight to the point to avoid losing the meaning of the reasons you are writing.
Be formal –
Since it is a professional one, do not use informal language even if you know the recipient personally. You never know it might pop up in the interview panel.
Do not plead –
No matter how dire the internship is to you, do not beg for it. Prove to the recipient that you deserve it by your qualification. However, do not use words like please offer me the internship. That is a total NO! You may also like to see thank you letter for job offer.
